Prepare to be fascinated by the gripping narrative of “The Author”, a feature-length film set to stream on November 7, 2023, across Amazon, Apple, and Google platforms. The film, created by Ritchey Cable, delves into the complex world of James Harrison, portrayed by Cameron Stout. James is an author awakening to forgotten choices and a life he no longer recognizes. On May 31, 2019, Ritchey Cable, writer and creator of the film, The Author, had a fortuitous encounter with singer/songwriter and American Idol alum, Ashton Brooke Gill, while they loaded an airplane in Houston, Texas. She looked familiar to him, and after their brief discussion ended, Ritchey found his seat, where online he would discover that three months earlier he had actually looked at this young woman to possibly play the role of Sara, a musician, in the film. When the plane landed, Ritchey found Ashton and asked her to read for the part. Spoiler alert: She got the role! In a remarkable twist of events, during filming Ashton fell in love with the male lead of the film, Cameron Stout. Their recent marriage was life imitating art, as the film itself asks the question of whether experiences in our lives are chance or if they happen for a reason.

James Harrison, an author, awakes in a small hospital bed, suddenly living the consequences of decisions he doesn’t remember making. He is disoriented, confused. Where is he? How did he get there? How much time has passed?
An older woman enters his room, points a bony finger his way and rasps, “I know what you did to Timothy Brown.” And she is gone.
This is his reintroduction to life after a cracked skull and a coma. His most recent past is now a mystery. Perceiving that his brain needs a chance to organize life’s events back in order, his doctor gives him an assignment fit only for an author: to write the story of the last six months of his life. This journey leads James down a peculiar and awe-inspiring path: the death of his mother, his escape from hometown problems, and a chance encounter with an alluring young woman whose mesmerizing voice and personality captures his heart entirely. As he writes, the solution to the riddle of his current situation is slowly uncovered.
